About Matthew Kwong

I am a creative professional with a demonstrated ability to solve problems, build professional relationships and communicate creatively. In my most recent position as a Front Desk Agent at the Fairmont Pacific Rim, I was a luxury hospitality professional in a Forbes Five-Star hotel; service at the highest level means knowing what guests want better than themselves. I excelled at this kind of anticipatory service, which involves active listening and the ‘reading’ of people to solve their problems in creative, individualized ways. I was honored in an internal hotel newsletter for my contributions and have also been commended by guests for turning around negative experiences. I take satisfaction in solving problems and am always looking to learn new skills and techniques.

I have a Bachelor of Arts in English from Simon Fraser University, a Diploma in Tourism Marketing Management from the British Columba Institute of Technology and a certificate in Visual Communication from Emily Carr University. As such I have a wide breadth of interests, but it can be summarized as an interest in people and the interactions between them. I like to stay updated on current events, enjoy writing and learning about others.
